Dr. Jim L. Tarter  Professor of Business Management

Dr. Jim Tarter currently serves as the Dean of the College of Business and Technology and is Professor of Business at the University of Texas at Tyler, USA and previously served as a faculty member at Southern Methodist University. His current responsibilities are to provide leadership and support to the faculty in serving regional, national and international students with a special focus of teaching in the area of business strategy, management decision making and leadership development.

He holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and an M.B.A. from Oklahoma State University and worked as an engineer with the Continental Oil Company and as an officer in the US Army prior to receiving his Ph.D. in Business Administration at Michigan State University. His broad organizational experiences include positions as a principal of a national consulting firm and Chief Operating Officer of a real estate and energy company.He currently serves on the board of several private and not-for-profit organizations.
